When it is time to start thinking about the type of food that you
want to serve at your Halloween party, you want to choose things for the event that not only taste great but also look fantastically
eerie.
There are lots of different things that you can choose to provide for your
guests and it doesn’t have to cost too much money. Here are just a few examples to get you started. The most important
thing is to let your imagination run wild and you are sure to end up with a table filled with tasty treats fit for all the
ghosts and ghouls, witches and wizards who will attend your party.
Choosing Your Halloween-Themed Cake
One of the main attractions of the food table has to be the Halloween-themed
cake. This should take pride of place on any buffet table.
There are lots of different designs that you can choose. Some great examples
include creating a cake in the shape of a coffin complete with a headstone. Alternatively you could create a cake in
the shape of a pumpkin or a witch.
If you are looking to order a cake from your local bakery, you'll want to
make sure that you do this in enough time so that you are not disappointed. If you are interested in taking on the
task of making your own cake, then you will find plenty of books and recipes for instruction and inspiration.
RECIPE: Freaky Eyeballs
Nothing is scarier than a set of eyeballs staring up at you from a plate. You
can make up a batch to serve your guests by simply using oven-ready pastry dough and black olives. These are guaranteed
to be a big hit!
Instructions:
1) Take small portions of the pastry, roll each one into a ball.
2) Insert a black olive into the center of each ball.
3) Glaze each one with a little bit of beaten egg and place them on a baking
tray.
4) Bake in the oven on a medium heat for about 10-15 minutes, or until
golden brown.
5) Once they have cooled down, you can serve them with a dipping sauce.
For instance, the green color and texture
of guacamole would be fantastic and reminiscent of the slimy green ectoplasm liquid from the Ghostbusters movies. And/or,
a salsa dip would be a great choice due to its blood-red coloring.
These are just a couple of ideas of the
sort of thing that you could have at your Halloween party. By using liberal amounts of blood red food colouring and adding
a few sprinkles of cobwebs and plastic spiders around your buffet table, your Halloween feast is sure to be a delight.
